Project 1: Digital Design

These pieces I have produced experiments with
digital mediums in the Adobe suite.
Using old as well as new media I have combined
practical illustration with software programmes
such as: adobe illustrator, photoshop and indesign
to produce the 'CRASH' and 'SMASH' sketches.
This gives the images a refined professional aesthetic
and reduced the consumption time of producing the
pieces significantly.

The Big Draw & HE student post stamp

The Big Draw week encouraged people
to draw, paint, create in the name of
expressing art. The brief we were
specifically set was to experiment with a
number of different mediums such as
paints, pencil, fineliner, digital animation
,ink and more. The final submissions
were posted to the ravensbourne big
draw blog at the address below:

The next part of our task was to produce
a post stamp of a HE student at the
ravensbourne using the skills learnt or
honed during the Big Draw week.

Currently studying a degree course at
Ravensbourne Alex aspires to become
an architect specialising in 3D art.

The style of the post stamp is inspired by
the work of Michael Craig Martin using
minimal lines as well as vibrant colour.
The illustration itself was produced digitally
on Adobe illustrator combining my own
drawing medium with Michael Craig Martin's
unique pop art style.
The post stamp itself was difficult to design for such
a small size. Unlike other briefs I have previously
encountered this task challenge me to work miniature
to produce a piece that could be viewed on a
tiny scale. However, I feel the original design fails
to portray itself in the smaller medium. Therefore for
future cases bolder mark making should be considered
to create a more distinct piece for miniature scales.
